How to reset a windows password with linux SystemRescueCd

First, you need to download the live cd : SystemRescueCd

Boot on it :

Mount the volume partition windows where the system is installed :

$ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/windows –o force

Go to the directory config :

$cd /mnt/windows/Windows/System32/config

List account :

$chntpw –l SAM

Edit the account you want :

$chntpw –u administrator SAM

Assuming you want to change the password, here the blank option is “1” :

reboot you computer normally and the administrator account auto connect and have a black password, so you need to change it !!
